Margi Hopkins
Margi is a signature member of the Colored Pencil Society of America, a signature Member of the Society of Animal Artists and a Member of Masterworks for Nature. She grew up outside of Boston, spending much of her childhood and young adult years on the east coast and moving to Cincinnati in 1991. She has a BFA in graphics from Denison University, Granville Ohio, attended summer classes at the Boston Museum of Fine Art for graphic design, Massachusetts College of art for medical illustration and the De Cordova Museum for life drawing.
Margi started Pepper Portraits in 2001 while working as a veterinary assistant. She is happy creating people and animal portraits, landscapes, the occasional farmstead, covered bridge or what ever sparks. Her favorite subjects often include a cat.
Margi competes in juried exhibitions all over the country. She teaches workshops in graphite and colored pencil technique, publishes written demonstrations and provides art for various publications and hard covers including North Light Books "Strokes of Genius". Margi's art is included in the permanent collection of the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine Library and is collected internationally.
Margi resides in Mount Orab, Ohio, with her husband Adam, and a menagerie of adopted pets.
