Sandra Cooper-Pence's enthusiasm for the human condition, her appreciation for the natural world, and her quest for self-improvement are the wellspring for her creativity.
Technically, Sandra is adept with oils, watercolors, graphite and colored pencils. She is constantly refining her skills by attending workshops and classes taught by some of the leading artists in their respective fields. Her studies with such internationally renowned teachers as John Howard Sanden and Daniel E. Greene, both instructors at the prestigious Art Students League in New York, and her attendance at the respected Columbus College of Art & Design and Ohio University have helped hone Pence's technical skills.
Perhaps Sandra's greatest talent is with portraiture. She is compelled to delve deep within the soul of each subject. She must discover what is unique about each individual to be painted. It is her comprehension of an individual's single distilling quality that is captured in the finished piece. As a result, her portraits explode from the canvas.
Sandra Cooper-Pence's talents are widely appreciated throughout southern Ohio and the Midwest. Her work is recognized by judges, collectors and gallery-goers alike. She currently devotes full time to her painting. Sandra lives in the Appalachian Foothills of Southern Ohio with her husband, David, four cats and a beagle.
